Ad-Hoc Diversity Center Committee Code
We are trying to get the planning for the CSUEB
Diversity Center under way. Noel Perez, from ASI, has
drafted the following as a guideline to start a
Committee for the Diversity Center. Please review it
and let us know what you think. It is below.

I. Name:
The name of this committee shall be the ASI Ad-Hoc
Diversity Center. This committee is an Ad-Hoc
committee of ASI.
II. Purpose:
The purpose and duties of the ASI Ad-Hoc Diversity
Center Committee is to:
1. Receive information from CSUEB community
on
regarding a Diversity Center not limited to Open
forums, surveys, tabling.
2. Plan a layout of services and programs a
Diversity
Center with input of students.
3. Find ways the Diversity Center can be funded
not
limited to by grants, fundraising and Student Affairs
contributions.
4. Allocate a space for a Diversity Center.
5. Find ways a Diversity Center can be operated.
6. Provide feedback to the Associated Students,
Inc.
Board of Directors.
Actions of the ASI Ad-Hoc Diversity Center Committee
are subject to approval by the Board of Directors.
III. Membership:
1. A student appointed by the President of
ASI and
approved by the BOD shall chair the Ad-Hoc Diversity
Center Committee and act as a non voting member, but
shall vote in case of a tie.
2. Six (7) students at large appointed by the
ASI BOD
shall serve as voting members.
3. One (1) of the six (7) students at large
shall
serve as the Vice chair elected by the committee.
4. A Student Life Representative shall act
as a
non-voting, ex-officio member.
5. A faculty representative appointed by the
chair
shall act as a non-voting, ex-officio member.
6. Committee terms shall be one (1) year, consistent
with Article IX, Section 6 of these Bylaws. Quorum
(50%+1) must be present at all meetings of the
committee.
IV: Duties:
Section 1. Chair
1. Shall report directly to the Associated
Students
Board of Directors.
2. Shall address the issues and develop the
agendas
for the meetings.
Section 2. Vice Chair
1. Shall be responsible for assisting the Chair,
to
keep track of the roll sheet and minutes.
Section 3. Members
1. Shall be responsible for any duties as assigned
in
the committee code and /or delegated by the committee.
V: Meetings:
The ASI Ad-Hoc Diversity Center Committee shall at
least bi-weekly during the academic year. A calendar
of meeting dates, agendas and minutes will be posted
and are available at all times. Meetings may be
conducted in accordance with Robert’s Rules of Order
and the Education Code, Sections 89920 through 89928.
VI. Enactment:
This ASI Ad-Hoc Diversity Center Committee Code shall
become effective upon final passage by ASI Board of
Directors, and upon the signature of the President/CEO
of the ASI Board of Directors. The Committee Code
supersedes all previous legislation pertaining to this
body and any such legislation currently in effect is
hereby repealed.
